Advance praise for Just a Normal Day - "Craig Baumken writes in gorgeous prose and creates scenes that are focused and emotionally rich...a spellbinding tale filled with memorable characters about revenge and redemption. 5 Stars! Expertly written. A delightful read!” – Romuald Dzemo for Readers’ Favorite”.

She was right. I was a lost cause, but that wasn’t always the case. At one time, I had my cause, my purpose, or so I thought. Then, one day, when I wasn’t paying attention, I lost my purpose along with everything that came with it.

Ex-cop Pete Humphries, down on his luck, and searching for what everyone wants – living just a normal day, is in his favorite bar, in Ottawa’s South End, when he’s approached by a stranger, Teddy Polson. Unbeknownst to Pete, their paths crossed many years ago, the result dramatically affecting the respective paths their lives took.

After some heavy drinking, Teddy offers Pete $50,000 to find his sister, Sara, who has gone missing. While Pete has some reservations about the job, he’s desperate for money, so he agrees to the deal. Pete quickly realizes his intuitions are correct. Not everyone or everything is as it seems.

Blinded by greed, Pete is taken on an unstoppable, wild roller coaster ride, through Northern Ontario, out to the East Coast and back again, along the way hurting and destroying everyone and everything in his path. In the process, his soul is laid bare, and he is faced with the most painful truth of all – who he really is. And, can he accept that truth, move forward and find redemption?
