How about making some classic gingerbread cookies for Christmas? Here's a recipe you can try:
Ingredients:
- 3 cups flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon ground ginger
- 1 3/4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup milk
Directions:
1. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves.
2. In a large bowl, beat butter, brown sugar, and egg with an electric mixer until creamy. Add molasses and vanilla extract and beat until combined.
3. Gradually stir in the dry ingredients until the dough comes together. Add milk and mix until the dough is smooth.
4. Divide the dough in half and wrap each half in plastic wrap. Chill the dough for at least 2 hours, or overnight.
5. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
6. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thickness. Cut out shapes using cookie cutters.
7. Place the cookies on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes, until the edges are firm.
8. Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
9. Once the cookies are cooled, you can decorate them with royal icing or your favorite toppings.
Enjoy your delicious gingerbread cookies this Christmas!
